Lihtolevik väljendab korduvat, harjumuspärast tegevust. Lihtolevikku kasuta kui räägid asjadest üldiselt (mitte tähenduses eile, just praegu ega tulevikus)

Jutustavas lauses tuleb HE, SHE, IT pöördes lisada tegusõna lõppu -s.

1) An old woman makes a Gingerbread Man.        Leia lauses alus: An old woman = SHE
2) The Gingerbread Man meets a cat.                    Leia siit lausest alus: Gingerbread Man = IT

Eitavas lauses tuleb kasutada abitegusõnu DO või DOES. 

1) The fox doesn't open its mouth.
2) The cat and the fox don't run away. 

Küsimusi tuleb samuti moodustada abitegusõnade DO või DOES abil

1) When does the first lesson begin?
2) What do you like? 

Jälgi siin sõnade järjekorda: 1. küsisõna, 2. abitegusõna do / does, 3. alus mille või kelle kohta küsimus käib, 4. tegusõna, 5. määrused

PS! Erandiks on Who-küsimus kus abitegusõna pole vaja.
